Naming Request Process

Submit a Proposal

Anyone in or outside the University community, the University Naming Committee, or the VP for University Advancement can submit a proposal. Your proposal will be sent to the appropriate Vice President.

Submit proposals at least two weeks before the committee meeting where you want it considered. The committee meets about one month before each Board of Trustees meeting.

Committee Review

The University Naming Committee reviews the proposal and advises the President to approve or disapprove.

Office of the President Review

The President and cabinet review the committee’s advice. The President may accept it, change it, or reject it.

Board Approval

Facility names must be approved by the Board of Trustees. Names for other University entities (not facilities) go to the Board as an informational item.
